OUR DOCTORS

What’s Up Doc?

Meet the Doctors at 143 Veterinary Services!

Dr. Diana Watkins

Veterinarian

Diana Watkins graduated Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2010. During her time at Tufts, she received the highest honors and also pioneered a surgical externship program with general practice clinics. She spent one summer doing all the spays and neuters for Lowell Humane Society and Pets in Need Rescue. She was president of the Student Chapter of the American Veterinary Medical Association.

Since graduation Diana has practiced at several local veterinary clinics, honing her craft and learning from the wonderful patients she has treated for over a decade. She loves surgery and finds it very calming and meditative, however her favorite thing about being a veterinarian is the client and patient relationships she gets to form. During exams, she very rarely uses the exam table, and can often be found snuggling on a chair with a cat or sitting on the floor with a dog. She considers herself so incredibly lucky that not only does she get to work with animals, but also the wonderful people that bring them in. Dr. Watkins has always had the dream to open up her own small animal clinic and is so excited that dream is finally coming to fruition.

Before veterinary school, Dr. Watkins got a graduate certificate degree in Biomedical engineering at Tufts, while also working as a scientist for Wyeth (currently Pfizer) Pharmaceuticals. She received her Bachelor of Science from University of New Hampshire where she graduated Magna Cum Laude and worked in the Microbiology Department.

Dr. Watkins lives with her husband and three beautiful boys here in Cohasset. She is currently hiking New Hampshire’s 48 four-thousand-foot mountains with her husband, and has run 4 marathons, and 13 half marathons. She loves horseback riding and can be found nearly every early morning running with her friends past her beloved Minot lighthouse.

The Watkins share their home with three cats which are all bottle fed and hand raised orphans (Smitty, Kiki, and Chicken), one Miniature Poodle named “Shadow”, and an English Spot rabbit named “Snowgrace” who was obtained from a hoarding situation via the House Rabbit Network.

Dr. Bethany Lucas

Veterinarian

Dr. Lucas graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Zoology and Environmental Science from Connecticut College in 2004. She then moved to Colorado where she completed a veterinary technician program and developed these skills working in veterinary dentistry, surgery, emergency, and wellness care. Although she enjoyed hiking the mountains of Colorado and many road trips along with her beloved dog Ace, Dr. Lucas and Ace ended up back on the east coast to pursue her veterinary medicine degree at University of Pennsylvania class of 2014.

Next stop was completing a small animal medicine and surgery rotating internship at VCA South Shore; she continued there as a general practitioner for 8 years. Now, Dr. Lucas is looking forward to joining a more intimate setting at 143 Veterinary Services. She has interest in wellness care from puppy/kittenhood to the geriatric years as well as dentistry.

Bethany now lives on the South Shore with her partner Seth, daughter Reese, and dog Piper. Although her time for hobbies has reduced a bit as a new mom, she enjoys hikes, floor hockey, and beach time!
